I'd say it was off of a fixed wing gun or a tank gun that was operated from inside while the gun was outside... I'll see if I can find some model no. 's

I am thinking of using it for a Spade grip conversion. Do you think it will work?

Allright - my "guess" is it's an "A5".

Do I win?

Slicks probibly right too... It does have the little tit at the top...

If that buffer tube and stack is the same as it is on an 1919a4 backplate I'd say yeah you could do it... Did you test fit it on your gun to make sure the latch hold it in place???

Which begs another question Duti... How many screws attach to the backplate on a spade conversion like say on Pirates spade setup...

I got it as a candidate for a "Pirates" spade grip conversion. My gun is a semi. 7.62 gun so the 8 buffer disks should be OK.

just wanted everyones 2 cents

i had him weld mmine up for me..... but if your gonna do a bolt on it will take 4... 2 on top and 2 on bottom for mounting the brackets.

and BTW, its a great little DIY kit... very good trigger response wanna see a picture??

I think you're good to go... I just used the longer ones for my spade-grip projects becasue they were what I could find (and are the forged variety).
