This is was a custom project I did not too long ago for a forum member that wanted something more "man-portable".

So instead of shooting from a tripod he wanted something to where he could actualy move around and shoot with.

So start with the project I needed to make some kind of backpack system to where it could hold your ammo. Our forum member here supplied a Naval .50 cal ammo box which could hold enough ammo to deplete the saving account.
One of the things I noticed on the ammo can was that it was huge internally and would require some sort of modification to keep his 30.06 stacked correctly. This would require some simple mods to fix the problem.

Ok,
Heres a few pics of the build dubbed "The Annialator Backpack" :D

One of the unique about this backpack is that there will be a Stainless Flex Feed Chute attached to the ammo can and the gun. This will also take a few mods to the ammo can so you will be able to lock it into place when using it at the range.

In this pic I will have to cut the top of the ammo can off to get it ready for the Feed Chute mods.

This next pic shows the lid removed.

In this next pic you can see where I had to fabricate some female locating recievers for the Flex Feed Chute which has the male locking ends.

http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/4673/dscn0122bm0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

This pic shows where I had to narrow the inside of the ammo can so the 30.06 could stack easily.
On this I just welded in some 16 gauge sheet into place.

http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/8295/dscn0123cx4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Heres a shot right after I rewelded the lid back on.

So far heres what the backpack ammo can looks like.
Its ugly and needs paint baaaaaadly! :?

http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/2148/dscn0127ec3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

One of the next steps was to join to flex feed chute ends together to make a 40' inch run.It is almost impossible to find a 38-40' inch long piece of 30.06 flex feed chute so some cutting and welding is going to be needed.I used a tig welder for this job and was careful not to melt the paper thin stainless into a molten glob.
Difficulty on this was like trying to heli-arc on a pepsi can.

This pic shows the flex feed chute locked into place.Everything is fitting up nicely so far.

Fast forwarda little and you can see how the ammo can frame mounts up to the USGI ruck sack frame. These ruck sack frames can be had at any military surplus store for under $30.

Ok,
Heres a shot of one of our forum members trying the rig on for the first time.Overall he was very happy with it and couldnt wait to start putting lead down range.

Here he is with the sling attached and getting ready to fire.

Man that is really cool work but.....

Do you know what would perfectly compliment the backpack and would make it most perfect awesome superbad outrageous bosa nova monkey choking 1919A7 accessory? Get a steady cam rig like they use for motion pictures and re-rig it to hold the 1919 with spade grips and that pack, that would be too cool, I can feel soccer moms and liberals everywhere sweating now..

Ok,

The SteadiCam mount is a spring-counterbalanced mount. A similar man-portable mount for a 1919/1917A1 could be fabbed up for a small fraction
of what the SteadiCam costs.
Tubing, springs, a calculator, and some cad work.
It could be integrated into the pack frame. In fact, that would make it a bit easier and help to keep the weight down, as the weight of the pack would act as a counterbalance.

Build it and they will come!:bounce:

YIKES!! I've got an unopened box of 2K Izzy links and just 1500 links weighs a fair bit.

I still wouldn't mind trying it... My back isn't that good but I move 150lb. sacks daily so I think I could drain that mofo if it was FA...:50cal:

Back before I wrecked my back, I'd have probably been able to weild this unit effectively - but I'd have probably dubbed it the "Herniator" instead of "Annialator"...

That said, I have to say that the "concept" is truly awesome!!!

New guy

so how can i score some of the flex feed chute in 308.
have been thinking about doing somthing like that. with the 300rd belt bags. (aka soft ammo cans) install 2 of them on a pack frame.
one runs empty..it pulls from the 2nd bag.(they are made that way.)
total 600rds + whats in the feed chute.

but i need feed chute.. or with one tug it will feed it all to the grownd:big:
have been looking but no luck.

any help would be fantastic:green:

and using it on a Hk21 ..17lbs

21 ,
good luck, i got a 36" piece of 7.62 x 51 chute with a 1919 lefts side adapter a few years ago and it cost me $600 heck the 50 BMG chute 11' of it cost me quite a bit less than the 7.62 did with box ends and left and right gun feed ends

Yea the Flexible feed chute is getting pretty scarce out there and most of the .50 feed chute is about done also. If you need some .308 chuting try this place as they have it listed on there website, runs about $125ft which is about the going rate unless you can find someone willing to sell that 3ft long piece thats just sitting in the garage collecting dust, lol.:smartass:

Here the link:

Good luck with your project and let us know how it turns out.

Hey thanks for the link.

sent them a email.. hope thay have it in stock

there is some stuff made from a plastic type stuff(Glock) that looks just/sorta like it.
it's used for running power line's when it's on a mechn (big one)robotics. it came in Diff size's.. i remember using it a few years ago.. and was thinking it would work fantastic... will go by the place and see if they still use it also.. it snapes together. you can make it as long or short as you like it.

but i cant remember if it's to open..
lettingthe rds get snaged..cant recall

Yea I remember seeing that stuff in the Grainger catalog at work its some type electrical cable protector for bending machines etc. Looks cool and is definitely a good alternative to try instead of the stainless stuff. Also last I check I dont know if the had a slot running down the middle I think they were fully enclosed so I dint how hard it would be to feed the belt through?
