yah it needed sandbagged its a good mount don't get me wrong but still moves quite a bit, we even used a mallot and put the legs in the ground and it still wanted to move quite a bit.

I'm still looking for a good ground mount for my semi at a decent price.

thanks

Yea,
The M63 does real good when you have your M2 in a 45+ degree incline just like the AA Tripods. However for flat line shooting nothing beats the M3 Tripod.Once those cupped feet dig in it doesnt like to move. The Sokolov tripods also work great when you get those wheels chocked and staked. :coffee:

The M63 was designed entirely for high angle AA use. I'm brainstorming some sort of mod for mine to stabilize it, and it's come down to taking the flex out of the legs and getting the base grounded. If you use the 4 big holes in the base flange and bolt it down it's the most solid pedestal mount ever, but carrying around a 6x6 piece of steel plate with 4 3/8" studs sunk in it isn't very practical. I could just leave it mounted in my Deuce... The answer is going to be either come up with a leg modification, something to bolt to the base to ground and support it, or buy a large pintle socket and create a totally new gun mount which gives M63 height with the stability of the M3 'pod..kind of a tall tripod with extended legs, maybe even 4 legs.

Been awhile since I sparked up my welder, and I'm feelin creative.

Looking at the M63 it definitley needs some sort of device that could clamp on to the round tubes. It could have 2 holes drilled in each clamping plate to where you could drive two big stakes through it.Do this on all fours and it would be staked to the ground pretty good.Curious to know what is the O.D. of the round tube is?

Just to get an idea see how this one is staked and how high it is.It doesnt move at all. :coffee:

That thing looks like the old WW2 water cooled mount..they weren't mobile enough for infantry, they were around airbases and installations. If this is home-made, it's a nice pedestal.

There's a solution here, I just have to find it.
