Powder thru Expander Die

Can anyone tell me the advantages of this die? Isnt the case mouth expanded in the deprimeing/sizing die?

Uh... No....:smile:
Depending on what Die set your using and what your reloading for typically you will have the following...

Pistol:
1. Sizing/Depriming Die
2. Case Mouth Expanding die/Powder though expanding die - You'll see these on Lee, Dillon and some other Mfrs. for mounting a funnel, powder measure.
3. Bullet Seating Die & Crimp die
4. Check/Crimp Die - Some of used use and additional Crimp/ Check Die as we don't like the crimping going on in the seating station.

Rifle:
1. Sizing/Depriming Die
2. Powder though die - You'll see these on Lee, Dillon and some other Mfrs. for mounting a funnel, powder measure. This one actually actuates the powder measure on progressive reloading presses... and has special inserts so to not damage the case neck.
3. Bullet Seating/Crimp Die
4. Factory Crimp Die - Again some folks don't like crimping during the seating stage...
