test fire was a success! wow what a project, with shitty tools in an apartment no less (closing on a house). i had to mill out parts of the operating rod, bolt, sear, trigger, trigger pin, selector lever rod, rear trunion, and fire control group housing.fabricated a riser / off set extension on the sear, safety / operating rod block, and connected to a fabricated dissconnector to engage the feed pawl roller channel on the left side of the operating rod to act as a semi auto sear. alot off sweat, some blood, and a profuse amount of profanity...but she's all mine and shoots like a dream. blueprints, pics, and video coming soon! thanks for the support! :headbang::50cal:

Wow! Congrats on getting one of the most difficult builds done. Looking forward to seeing some pics and video of it running. Did you copy an already proven design or just did this one from scratch?:green: Also what kit did you use a Romy or Hungarian?

thanks. its an origional design, straight from my little brain. some mechanical problem solving and ALOT of trial and error. sent alot of steel to scrap on this one. i didnt want the tube running through the buttstock to preserve the origional look, and i love a challenge. its a romy that is in rare great shape. i didnt want to chop on a hungarian and fail, lol. its a different story now that i know what im doing, the hungarians are coming and i have a lead on a russian. i'm going to work on getting an atf letter and start doing builds for others.

please excuse the mess. all of the work's still in the "rough" and as youll nitice its all held together with aluminum rivets as a temporary hold. wanted to ensure function before i went to squeezing steel. you can kind of get an idea of the fire control group mods from the assembled pics. i will be dissassembling, bead blasting, parking, and re-assembling this weekend.....with real rivets even . ill take detailed pics once i have it all dissasembled.

i did squeeze of a few. i had some problems with my "disconnector" i fabricated dissengaging. i ran a stronger captive spring system and it ran like a top. im pending atf approval right now. hopefully i meet there standards and get that letter. from there im going to run a patenet and be able to offer fire control groups and kit modification blueprints at a price that will make it possible for a home builder to pick up a kit and my fcg/prints and produce a fine pkm with minimal tooling for well under $3,500.00. MarColMar isnt going to like me very much if it all works out.

It's all about the decoration....:big: Hey ya know what... Innovation drives the hobby so if you can do it cheaper so be it... PKM really isn't my flavor I try to stick with the U.S. guns but I like see all of them run... I wish someone would take the plate and challenge OOW on there 1918BAR SLR...

any more updates on the build?

sure is. the pkm is running like a top. see the "pkm poll" tread under "all other beltfeds". im waiting on the atf now. i will be putting theese out soon WAY under the macallomar price with no external mods. im tired of big business charging up prices because they have a monopoly. these weapons shouldnt be limited to the rich! i grew up poor and remember salivating at all the weapons that i could never afford. i believe in the second ammendment and last time i looked it didnt say that you needed a second mortgage to partake.

I feel that... There's a few out there that I'd like to have but most of my money goes back to the house to keep a roof over the families head...
My wife would shit if she new what I have tied up in the beltfeds already... I'd say I hope she never reads this but I'm sure she's trolled an account here...:green:

Have you heard back from ATF?

i had a few hickups so it went back to the drawing board. im working on my own semi receiver now aswell that will make the semi build much easier. as it stands now, any one with my receiver a parts kit, dremel, bench grinder, drill, a few parts from me, and a case of beer will be able to build. no serious machining involved. more to follow guys, bear with me. i only get a few hours a week to build because of work and i have a few projects going at the same time.

Beer always helps,,Keep up the good work.If you don't mind me asking? How much work on the bolt carrier did you have to do,to get around the block in the receiver?

STILL ALL EYES AND EARS ON THE PROGRESS OF YOUR ATF LETTER!
Looking forward to see it out of the gates.
I wouldnt waste your time on a real patent as they will run 9-15000 dollars. Doubtful if you could sell enough units to justify that expence.

i had to mill out a good bit of the bottom rear of the operating rod. could be done with a grinder since it doesnt require a clean line, but a mill is preferred. the vltor receiver has a large blocking bar to work around. the receiver im working on is a bit mor home builder friendly.

damn I wish I could do that. A PKM is my dream gun but they cost so much to buy already done.
