Just got this from a fellow 06 mfg. Anybody else hear anything about it?
I wonder if converting it to DTC or .416 brass would count as 'mutilation'?

Subject: Important Notice to Scrap Metal Buyers!

http://www.govliquidation.com (http://www.govliquidation.com/)

Dear Valued Customer:

Please take a moment to note important changes set forth by the Defense Logistics Agency:

Recently it has been determined that fired munitions of all calibers, shapes and sizes have been designated to be Demil code B. As a result and in conjunction with DLA's current Demil code B policy, this notice will serve as official notification which requires Scrap Venture (SV) to implement mutilation as a condition of sale for all sales of fired munitions effective immediately. This notice also requires SV to immediately cease delivery of any fired munitions that have been recently sold or on active term contracts, unless the material has been mutilated prior to sale or SV personnel can attest to the mutilation after delivery. A certificate of destruction is required in either case.

Thank you,

What exactly does this mean? Is it a new law that all once fired brass must be destroyed? Speaking of shortage of brass, I personally haven't found a shortage at the range I frequent. It seems that no one picks up their brass. I never see anyone pick up any brass when I'm there and I always see piles of brass every range trip which means that no one who frequents that range must reload. Strange, considering how many shortages of reloading supplies there are nationwide.

Its not a law, its a DoD policy dealing with surplused ammo and components. Too bad Talon fucked us all and got caught. No it doesn't apply to anything but military components (all the powder, primers, projectiles and brass), good thing I got all the tracers I will need for some time to come.

Apparently the new regime is standing up and making itself count again, good thing they don't have anything else to worry about like total economic collapse, war, illegal alien on the throne....

Hmmm... No surplus powder or religion either...
Figures... So now were not going to see any surplus .50 brass right...:dissapprove: Well... Guess if you boys are connected might want to use those connections to pile up some .50 brass at least... You know they could make money off of that brass just Send Hillary down to the local gun show with a truck load and maybe we could erase that national debt....:abused1:

The big problem with this DOD order is that companies like TOP BRASS, Hi-Tech, etc will struggle finding components and will eventually go out of business. That leaves us with recycling only our own brass.

I posted in the general forum "JPFO" link. The DLA has ordered the DoD to destroy all once fired brass of all sizes/caliber. I took action earlier today and wrote the Senator and Congressman from Montana to persuade the DLA to reverse it's decision.

Just another way they are limiting our ability to enjoy our hobby. Think of it this way... if they can take away our ability to acquire ammunition, then they take away our ability to shoot and our guns become paper weights.

Well if I dont have no bullets to shoot I guess they will have to learn what a bayonet is used for - messy messy!

Yep a couple of congressmen kicked em square in the nuts and they changed the demil code for brass to code Q (no demil required).
