Hello,

I understand the 1919 isd very sensitive to cartridge spacing.. Does anyone sell an adjustible front spacer? My gun has less than 100rds thru it, built by john mcguire.. never feeds unless the spacing is just right..

I've seen more than one 1919a4 that had a belt-holding pawl spring that was too "stiff". I replaced that spring on both of my 1919a4's and they feed nice and smooth now.

Try pressing down of your holding pawl and see how stiff the spring is. If it's pretty tough, try a lighter spring.

I'm assuming that your belt is ocasionally failing to advance?

ok first off, what caliber and what kind of ammo are you using? i have a Mcguire built gun myself  , that being said, most problems i have seen with a mcguire build havent been associated to the gun itself, but more of component issues like ammo and the such.

the reason i ask is many people have tried US made .308 like hunting ammo and the such and it reportedly has a shorter overall length which causes the extractor to push the round forward instead of hooking over the case rim and pulling the round out of the link/belt to load.

to answer your question, no i havent seen an adjustable front cartridge stop.

I'm assuming your shooting 7.62x51, and not 308,, case length can cause the extractor to fail to pick a round up,, are you shooting links or belts,, there is a difference in the top cover parts,, does your gun have a short round stop? the little round pin on the right side plate at the forward part of the trunion area,, the forward 7.62x52 guide slips over the pin,, if its not there, its possible your guide is out of allignment and not presenting the round to the extractor arm. Check your headspace too,, if its off, the bolt won't go completely forward and will not pick up a round,, or chamber it either.

Correct

Top "military" is 7.62X51 NATO
Bottom " commercial" is .308 Winchester

Almost all dimensions are a little different between the two but sufficiently close enough to allow interchange between the two safely in most cases.
