have just purchased a ohio rapid fire 1919 took it out shooting last sunday, found to have a problem with the triger for every shot fired i had to pull the triger back up the spring is there seems strong? i first shot it then pulled the triger again and it was locked, I chamberd a new round droping a good round out so it is feeding great, and was able to fire, then after that round i had to pull the bolt back again where a good round came out, and the was able to fire again, thats when I noticed that the triger was down and i could pull it back up. the I was able to keep fireing with every pull of triger there was a pull back up. thats a drag new to 1919's so looking for some help on what to do? anyone? the baron

Okay... I'm trying to understand what your saying here... Are you saying that you have to push down on the trigger so it resets before you can pull up and make it fire??? Are you hearing an audible click everytime you pull the trigger??? or you go to pull up on the trigger and only sometimes you will get that click... Always make sure the bolt is fully forward and under full lock up... You could have an issue with either the disconnetor not fully engaging the sear or the trigger stop may be adjusted too tight...
Have you adjusted your headspace... if headspace is two tight or not adjusted properly you can have ruptured cases and or poor sear disconnector engagement...

ok yes you are correct you have to push the triger back down to fire again, yes the bolt returns all the way forward and locks i pull the bolt back manually, the good round drops another round gose in and bolt forward, locks, and will fire... but the next round you have to push the triger back down if you do this it fires everytime... inspected about 40 spent caseings no signs of stress or split caseings... ordered head spacing gauge and a field and tech manual, but have not recived them yet, bought 1919 at crossroads gun show just last weekend, live in the phoenix arizona area looking for someone to talk to in person about 1919's i am very much a newbe with this type of gun. will not be talking out till i learn all i can about 1919's can you recomend a good manual to have or bible for 1919? any sugestions welcome i want to make sure everythings safe Baron

one suggestion would be to come down to one of the SoCal shoots, alot of skilled guys running around. I myself had that same problem when i switched from .308 to 8mm in my mcguire gun. Turns out it needed a spring type return spring, and the plunger type that came with the gun (KMP) couldnt hack it - even tho it worked perfectly with .308. It could just need a stronger trig reset spring? Or check the spring and make sure its set good over the trigger.
Maybe we should change the name from LC belt fed shoot, to LC repairing belt feds shoot - seemed like alot of problemos going around last time out for everyone.
Maybe ill get my shit together one of these days - then maybe poor BlkHumvee and Kali can get some shooting done instead of workin on a noobs gun (mine) :gaga:
My ORF is still broke, it feeds fine since i welded in the acc stop but wont go boomy - the trig will click when theres no ammo in it, but load a round and it plays dead. Gonna send her off to mcguire for some repairs.

Okay... and give you a link to a trigger spring tutorial... Plus the part No. for the barrel headspacing spring you need...
Barrel Headspacing Spring USGI

This is the tutorial that I learned to make my trigger return spring from
Trigger Spring Tutorial...
http://www.1919a4.com/tutorials/tutorial-spring.php
One of the members that assisted in making the tutorial informed me the other day when I had questions about it that currently they are using between .062 - .065 music wire now and also they increased the length of the wire by 1/2 inch ... So you would start with a 4 -3/4 inch piece of music wire... The balance of the dimensions stay the same. The wire can be found at your local Ace Hardware... The tutorial is a little out of date and it seems that a lot of the stuff has not been updated for a while but in basic its still good info... The thicker wire with the added length even though it is a stiffer spring it's easier to trip with the added length and the same spring can be used for a positive reset in the use of a crankfire device...
I am not sure what type of return spring setup you have in that gun... If anyone has a rapid fire please provide input... If you do not have the screw and nut that thread into the trigger frame cross bar you can obtain them at the hardware store they are 10-32 thread 1/2 length maching screw will do... you may have to clearance it a little to get the backplate down but this is common unless you can find a machine screw with a tiny head... Also when you bend your spring make sure that you bend those wires a little to the left and right of the trigger at an angle so they do not interfere with the bottoming out of the trigger against the trigger frame crossbar as this would limit the travel of the trigger...
Gunrunner5150 does make a good point though if you continue to have problems whether you make the trip to Cali. for one of our shoots or hopefully for the Southwest shoot we can be more hands on with your situation... Also there are some other members here from AZ that might be able to help run you through the gun better... More than likely though if you just fix your trigger return spring it sounds like you have a good gun and you should be up and running... Be patient it may take two or three springs till you get it right the first time... But no worries we all went through the same thing man...
Gunrunner5150 don't sweat the small shit man thats what were there for... Plus its guys like you that make the trip that make the shoot what it is...I only shot 400 rounds that day and those cease fires kept screwin' with us while we were working on everyones guns... Although we had Lucky Blk Humvee and myself we were still one man Short (iRighti) never hurts to have an extra man and I new if I didn't step up Blk Humvee or Lucky wouldn't have gotten much range time either... Wish you would have brought your other gun to the range though... We like fixin' things...
Whew I need a drink now... :coffee:

ok thanks much for the imput, as soon as i figure out how to link a picture to this fourm i could show all what i am working on.
I come from a machinest backround, have built aks, ar's and have over 20 rifles of sorts, that i work on so all this makes sense... thanks... i am going to start at the begining ck headspace make sure not a notch to tight, and go from there (could that cause a issue like this?)
I do have a spring in place seems pretty strong... screw is there... and in place... as for the type of spring it looks like the one in the Tutorial... I am just trying to learn here, would love to meet up with ya all and have a shoot... just trying to keep ya all from working on my gun
i have been searching the web and taken notes.. well see what happens,
thanks Kali I will buy you that drink!!! do you guys attend the big sandy? missed last one due to work blah was at the 2 previous! want to play full auto can only afford the semi auto thanks again off to work so i can buy ammo!!! Baron

A few of the So. Cal. folks were going to be off to the last Big Sandy and then could not get the space required to shoot safely so the group cancelled... Bummer but you never know where the crew will be next...
Nah more than likely you just need a little stronger trigger return spring and you should be good... Sometimes when they make the springs they don't leave enough tension on it to make it return the trigger all the way down its a simple fix... Check you headspace just in case believe the rule is from full lock up on 8mm no clicks out or 1 click, .308 4 clicks out .30-06 2 Clicks out...

Strong trigger return springs are imporrtant - but don't forget to check the sear spring as well..

True Slick... Sometimes the sear binds in the bolt and on the rare occaision some folks have found bad sear springs...

Yeah I have the Video from the shoot and was supposed to make that shoot but sometimes things happen... From time to time I will run across an RKM tribute sticker because I work in and around the Temecula/ Perris area from what I understand he was located in and around for a while...
We will have to get a Southwest shoot cooked up... It's just a matter of time...
