Welcome
You have entered the "30/50 DUAL PURPOSE MOUNT" Project room.

(This is a creation for a need to have 2 shooting platforms using 1 tripod)

Once in awhile I get a little free time and I always like to spend it developing new products or making things better. One of the things thats been kicking around my head was developing a dual purpose mount that would house a .30cal 1919 and a full blown Browning M2HB.Most people that own these guns dont like having to lug out 2 tripods, 2 sets of T&E's, etc especially if your traveling far to a shoot.

So I thought one day why dont I just make a mount to where you can put both of them on there and be done with it.You know when your at a shoot space sometimes can be a premium and having 2 tripods close to each other can sometimes also be to cluttered?I figure why not clutter both of them on one tripod? So I got to thinking I will use the standard M3 Tripod to build off of.This is a great heavy stable platform that will be perfect to mount a larger tripod adapter off of.

This tripod adapters basic function is to where you can use shoot your M2HB indvidually and then when done then you can simply start shooting your 1919.The guns however are close enough to where you could shoot them both at the same time (F/A guys take note) if you desire but the main goal was to be able to fire them individually (Actual dual mounts are in the works though).

Actually build pics and more information (pricing) on this new adapter will be up soon....

Wait a minute
Rich with free time.?

It really happens like this.

I think I'll have a beer between adapters.

Tig Tig Tig

Beer Beer Beer

I wonder what this would look like.

Beer , Tig ,Tig, Tig .

Hey dude check this out.
I reply

"I'll take it that is the shit."

My back pack aka the predator was one of those skunk works projects .
I believe it was the first one.
It was and still is one of my favorites .

It went something like this .
6 pack , 12pack , back pack.

I have only seen a few photo's of this bad boy.
I will be able to lay hands on it this Sunday.

Rich can create some wicked shit when the creative juices are flowing.
When he gets something in his head he works to all hours of the morning to bring it to life just like a mad scientist.

All I can say is GUN TRUCK.

Whats so crazy about this dual setup is that they both take up about the same space as the regular 50 cal mount... Good thinking Rich...

Took the 30/50 Dual Purpose mount out to our shoot yesterday and it ran without a hitch. You get plenty of elevation out of it and full treversing effect. All in all I was very pleased with this adapter.

Heres a few pics of it from the shoot.

Heres A few pics of the build process.

Building the .50cal ammo baskets
http://img364.imageshack.us/img364/4757/imga0001tq9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Checking dimensions and overall fitment.
http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/4882/imga0003mv0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Here I'm just profiling the end so that the ammo can lid can be opened while its still sitting in the basket
http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/3797/imga0004cw0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Here you can see how the ammo will sit in the basket.Note you can open the ammo can lid while its in there.

http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/2180/imga0005ow6.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Heres a pic of the main frame that will hold the M2Hb in place. This will be attached to another frame that will hold the 1919, two ammo cans and a link catcher can.

http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/6431/imga0006hv0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

In this pic I've just joined the first two large ammo can baskets together to the main frame.

Closer view of how they were joined.

In this pic I'm doing a test fit with the gun along with taking some measurements for the link chute and ammo chute.

In this pic I just got done with cutting the ammo can lid to accomodate the flexible feed chute.
http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/1827/imga0010rj7.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

In this pic I've just welded the stainless feed chute directly to the can end.
http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/1852/imga0009zv3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Shown here is just after welding the lid skirt. This will support the feed chute and keep it from tearing off if its ever pulled on or snagged by accident.
http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/9184/imga0012ph9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

In this pic I am taking measurments on how long to cut the feed chute.

http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/1893/imga0014ms0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Fast forward a little. This pic shows the custom chute end which will use a quick release toggle when all finished

Chute end is finally attached

Its just high enough for the 1919 barrel to peek through, lol

Fast forward to the 1919 cradle

This was taken just after building the 1919 cradle along with the link catcher basket and ammo can basket. The frame has been attached to the M2HB cradle.

http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/1638/imga0024sd3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Test fitting the .30cal ammo can and making sure the lid can be opened while its sitting in there
http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/9435/imga0028bk6.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Building the 1919 cradle frame. This will have a brass deflector so the brass can eject out to the left side and away from the mount.

http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/584/imga0029cs5.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Another view of the 1919 mount and brass deflector.1919 Link chute will also be placed here.

http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/6369/imga0031gm3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

The Brass exhaust side

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/5259/imga0032ri7.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Welding the the 1919 cradle to the outer frame.Note brass will deflect out to the left and away from the link catcher side.

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/7142/imga0033ef0.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Checking alignment and fitment of the link catcher ammo can.Feed chute also clears the 1919 by 2' inches so theres plenty of room. The pics make it look like its touching but its not.

http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/2349/imga0027bq5.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Getting them aligned properly before final welding

Another view.Plenty of room for the 1919 barrel and you can even open the .50cal lid about halway before touching the barrel. This is so you can add more .50cal ammo without having to take the ammo can completely out of the basket.

http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/6963/imga0025em2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Adding the .30cal link chute

http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/7162/imga0036su7.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

After installation.

http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/8379/imga0039cp8.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

In these two pics I'm just welding the rest of the frame, mainly underneatch and the hard to reach spots.

http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/4781/imga0034oz9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Cutting the .30cal lid and getting ready to attach the flexible chute, same way as the .50cal lid

http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/6291/imga0037dc6.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Attaching the flexible feed chute to the quick release mount

Theres a ton of stuff that was missed inbtween and I had wished I would have taken more pictures for you guys so you can see the entire process but hopefully these will give you a general idea on how I build these adapters.
Stayed tuned cause there a bunch of new stuff headed to the SkunK soon....Just gimme more coffee! :coffee:

Building a few more of these right now without the hard to find stainless feed chute. These will still feed just wont look as cool. These should be back up in the shopping cart system soon.Price will be helluva lot cheaper without the stainless feed chute too!Keep an eye out for them...
