(CBS) CHICAGO The Food and Drug Administration and a Chicago alderman are looking for a crackdown on an energy drink that goes by the name "Cocaine."

The Chicago Sun-Times reported Ald. Edward Burke (14th) wants to ban the sale of the energy drink in Chicago.

"Cocaine" has 280 milligrams of caffeine, about three times the strength of Red Bull.

The drink also has a secret "throat-numbing" ingredient, which reportedly gives a high, a tingly euphoric feeling, and a six-hour buzz.

A slogan on cans of "Cocaine" proclaims it "the Legal Alternative."

Energy drinks are extremely popular, particularly with the younger market. They have become a $3 billion industry.

Wonder what the 'numbing' ingredient is? Novacaine? Cetacaine? Turpentine?

I'm interested now, wonder if they sell the stuff around these parts? If the boys in Chicago want to ban it, it's worth a try, I think. :bounce:

Cocaine energy drink is very spicy, I had to drink a lot of water followed by this drink...The energy drink really feels you up, I was super hungry and after drinking 2 sips of Cocaine I was not hungry anymore. You basically have to sip the drink because it is spicy, bitter and very strong. It burns going down your throat and gave me a good heartburn also. I could not finish the full can because I was very full and my mouth and throat was burning some. I drunk less than half of the energy drink and felt some energy but not a lot. I wished I could have finished it but I couldn't. Again The taste is pretty strong, I coughed when I popped the top and smelled of it (at first). Thank God I did not turn this drink up, I would have probably choked on it. I am pretty sure if you drink Cocaine you can lose a lot of weight! I don't eat a lot but with this drink I didn't eat anything the whole day after drinking it, I was totally full. Red Bull is still my favorite, allthough I do like Monster and Sobe but Red Bull has the best taste and I get the most energy from. I actually crave Red Bull, the taste is addicting for me and I have talked to many people who also agree. Cocaine is good but the taste is bad and you have to take little sips at a time. Other energy drinks you can turn up!!!
