That's gerat Kali, thanks. I've got a friend that owns a "digger" and have been trying to find him an original manual; any ideas? Bill

Wow... Well... I don't know there bud but I'll put that on my list of things to search for on the internet if I find anything I forward it on to you... I wouldn't mind finding one of those myself just to post the material... Hey if you and you buddy get together sometime and either of you have a digital camera I'd love to see some pic's... It's one of the more obscure Machine Guns much like the Lewis gun but they all are very very cool... I don't know whether the patent would help him very much but it does give a little information as to the function and like I said if I find anymore material I will certainly post it here and drop you a line...

Well after a little searching I found somemore info on the potato digger...

See pg. 314 of the below manual it gives a basic run down of how the gun works... I believe this to be more detailed than the patent information... No illustrations but there is hope... I am trying to hunt down another source I found that will...

So here it is... Naval Gunnery handbook its not a very good facsmile but is passable as it was done by google...

Thanks Kali, I'll download this for him tonight and see to it I get some decent pictures as soon as I can get him to get the gun out.
