Well the other day heard a curious comment from RSO at one of our local ranges as he picked up a unfired cartrige from the firingline it was a black tip and most of us know our local ranges in So. Cal. don't like Armor Piercing ammunition also known as AP... When I mentioned that black tip is a no no he said funny thing is some of the black tip is not black tip at all its frangible... So he tested it against the dreaded magnet of doom and sure enough it didn't stick... So after I went home I dug into my draw or unfired cartridges in my reloading bench and found another similar cartridge applied my magnet to it and sure enough it didn't stick... Wow I thought now thats cool so I started examining the projectile more and noticed one difference between it and regular AP if you run your thumb nail across the frangible it will catch whereas on the AP it will not catch on the paint... This new frangible is two piece perhaps a stronger tip so they don't chip or damage during deployment...
