ok, im still not all the way done with this one....

need some stuff to finish my FCG but other than that its all done. Yes i stuck the trigger and safety back in it just for shits and giggles.... it looks stupid with out them even in my garage floor.

its been at this stage for almost a year now and there wasnt any build tutorial as i went, just weld, grind, test fit, weld, grind, test fit..... continue.

getting all the parts on this bad boy to line up and work with the hack job that was done was not easy.

got a spare barrel shroud from Omega a couple of years ago, as mine was torched on BOTH ENDS..

then got a spare threaded section from Sarco that had most of the threads in it.

this required a lot of work to match up and thin out the front end exactly right in those threads and the WLA thread repair section wasnt out yet. so lots of cursing and grinding went into this along with a ton of welding to get it all strong and solid.

the denial pins were no big deal, just locate drill and inset pins, then weld up and grind off..

same for the bolt carrier blocker: weld up about 1" in the front so that a FA bolt carrier wont fit, then adjust your carrier to fit.

the bolt work was done by a good friend of mine as was the firing pin.

the lower was milled out and just waiting to see what the FCG set up will be, with the shortness of this lower most of the FCG's we use (870& such) are just too tall. but a hybrid set up may still be okay. this is the only hold up right now.

enough talk here's the pix.

ok now here is a little more info...

i got one of the weaponeer kits and it was in "unfired" condition but had a hell of a torch job done on it.

called OMega out in AZ and got a spare receiver section and chines barrel shroud for $75 shipped and went from there.

got lucky and the sections had overlap to the one i had so it was a simple matter of cutting them all and then beveling them and welding them up. the middle and rear section were no big deal as i had the lower to use to mate them up and set the distances.

the front section was cut thru the barrel locking threads and i had to get a spare from SARCO to work with there and then take the painstaking task of mating these up in the exact same cut line.

spent about 10hours of working time on this front end to get it all to line up and lock smoothly, and then beveled the outside of it and spot welded it up... then a light pass, check fit, another pass, check fit and then cap welded it and checked it then grind it all down.

used a cold bluing on this and you can see my welds if you look real close in these pix or a brite light. as you can tell ive got it welded to where it wont ever come loose, but not being a welder like Rich or PIrate, im sure the welding could have been better.

ive been lucky enough to shoot one of these in FA and they are surprisingly slower than i expected. but have a HELL of an echo for 54r.

ive mocked up several other FCG's and just not ever been happy with what has finished up so when the guys put this out im gona go with their set up and it should be ahuge seller for them.

if you need internal pix just let me know.

Very nice Sean! We won’t be seeing any of those in CA anytime soon.

Good news is that it looks like I might be able to pull down a PSL using a “Raddlock” and get it DROS’ed in CA! It’ll be my first semi 7.62x54R gun. I’ve only got about 2 ˝ cases – so I’ll need to stock-up big time on ammo while it’s still cheap.
