Some videos and pictures of my trip to Camp Atterbury. We left at 07:30. The bus ride up was in one of those Bluebird busses, it had A/C, and I think no working suspension, A real jolt wagon. it got us there. at gas prices I cant complain to bad. When we got there we had to sign a waiver, then headed out to the range. first up was the M16 range. We all got to fire off a couple 30 round clips on semi, and burst. also at the same range we all got to fire off some 7.62 out of the M240B. hell yea!! fired off a belt each, maybe a couple hundred or so. I think it took about 30 sec. or so. best damn half a minute i have ever had. After that we stopped for lunch at the PX, and subway on base. After lunch, we went to the simulator. This was like a big video game, holy shit it was cool. the thing was air operated. The weapons would recoil and make noise like you were on the range. I fired the M16 and SAW. We didn't get to shoot the big stuff or go to the morter range cause of the Air force were using the range for there target practice also. this was at the same range where we were shooting to. After lunch we went to the grenade range and sniper range. They were shut down for the day, but man, you cant get a feel for the distance of the sniper range until you see it. unreal. I had a great day. Everyone I met was nice, friendly folks. A special thanks goes out to these guys!! :saluteflag: pictures on the way.

they were doing training for the next couple weeks. They invited family and friends for the day to see what goes on. Camp Atterbury is one of the few bases that let civilians on base, and shoot guns. What else was cool was My dad was there in the 50's, some of the old stuff from when he was there is still there.

I thought The Rob Zombie was fitting. now you guys know what kind of music Slick and myself listen to.. guns and zombie, yep we fit the anti's profile for sure. Kind of a funny thing, while there shooting, some older guy was at the Medic unit getting his right elbow bandaged up, never thought anything of it till the next day when my right elbow was sore. come to find out so was everyone else that was there. if you notice in the video of where i am shooting, my right arm was resting on the ground. They were using pea gravel to lay on. So it was kinda like scrubbing your elbow on sand paper. I never thought about it at the time, I think I shot a couple hundred round belt, and since that was the first belt fed machine gun I, or any of us ever shot, it never crossed my mind.

I have had the pleasure of meeting a lot of good people there, I also set up at there open house a couple years ago, those pictures are on my web site. I understand they have a job to do, and I am greatfull they do what they do, but damn Im going to miss em while there gone. we didnt get to shoot the bigger stuff, the Air force had the big range for that day, something about dropping bombs and stuff, WTF? cant they drop those some other time? i guess I will have to wait a while to go back and try it again..
