Dan ,where did you get your receiver ?? I got a beautiful kit from a guy and i was going to try the ORF receiver.
I want to park this one , i have an underfolder stock that i am going to have my Gun Smith attach later.
Do this rifles park well ???
Now the big question , the guy i am getting this from told me to install the bolt ,and press in the barrel until it just touches the bolt face.
Is he full of it ? also the barrel Diameter is 8246 ,so do i get the receiver with the 8245 hole ?

Phal, actually both of mine are still on dummy receivers. I intend to get a couple of the ORF receivers and kits to build mine, its half the price of the OOW receiver - probably need a little more fitting that the OOW one does but OOW's price is just out of the ballpark and then some.
As for setting the headspace, yes the bolt can be used when you are installing the barrel, I think some AK guys do this when setting up a new trunnion, but I think the pin hole has already been drilled in the receiver (at least thats the way the picture on the web site looks) so if thats true then the headspace should already be figured into the receiver dimension.
Man it looks like most of my projects are going to be on hold for a couple of months until I get some more work on the house done in prep for putting it on the market in about six months. Guess its got to be done if I ever intend to set up a proper Wilson Compound eh?

Hay Dan ,i just wondered what you thought about the parking ?
Some of the guys who have tried this say the Gas Block is a Molly alloy and cant be parked. I saw one that just polished the hell out of it and it did look good.

Honestly I couldn't say about the gas block but it does seem to be other than steel. But its really hard to tell under the epoxy finish.
All I can say is try it and if it doesn't park then just dump it in some caswell's black oxide and that should fix its wagon.
When I get to do mine I will probably try to match the existing bluish gray epoxy finish, I kinda like it.

I like that color but the problem i saw was the guns from CZ ? USA were not consistent in tint. The H&K blue gray was closer to the real color , I just went H&K black on my first one. I ordered my receiver from ORF , i hope i can line up that notch in the chamber with the pin hole in the receiver . One guy told me to heat the receiver just a little and it would help , and that it dosent have to be a drilling rig pipe fit .
Only about 2 or 3 thousandths should be fine.
I sold my AK to a guy yesterday so i can pay for my Saiga 12 , when you get a VZ 58 up and running you just don't feel the same about an AK anymore.
I wish i could find an exploded parts diagram but none seem to be on the web.

Heating the receiver will work, just don't heat it to much and fuck up the temper.
However freezing the barrel will make a world of difference when pressing it in.

Dan i figured on doing that , i cant press the barrel in until i get it back from the Smith though.
He is welding the FH on it so it is a 16.25 barrel , i may just send him the receiver when i get it so i don't have to mess with it.
I don't want any of that shit around the Place until it is 922 correct.
I hope this one works as well as my other one ,i never believed an AK type rifle could be that accurate.
`I'm going to park this SOB so if i fuck that up i can blame Pirate.

You could have just pinned the FH on the end of the barrel and that would have been just as legal - or just send it to Duti and let him MIG the fuck out of it:green:
Man I got so damn many projects right now and its really tears the ass outta me to put them on the back burner to finish the house but guess I need to keep the wife happy since she has never really bitched about me dumping all of our spare cash into guns and ammo. Gotta really love a women that will humor her ol man:green:
But soon, oh soon it will be the Thompson, both VZ 58's, a rust blued 1919 and god I dont know what else but first the house:banghead:
