I am in a real battle with myself :50cal: I really want to build a 1919 but I have too many projects now. Who has the best kits now and the best complete guns? In conversation with a kit supplier I was not aware that the full auto trigger came witht some kits and the semi trigger"MUST" be bought and installed seperately. Is this the case with all kits? Thanks for all the info. I can get.

Well the best price on a kit going right now is from ohioordnanceworks.com the grade B kit is just as good as the grade a kit... Grade B being less expensive at 299.00 then you would need to get the semi side plate from like say Daves100 or Halo mfg. 100.00-150.00 then you need rivets... Price I don't remember on these but Halo has the correct 60 degree rivets... The trigger and sear you can get from Karma mfg. for 125.00 which has the best guarantee out there... the rest of the stuff is really up to you for the tripod, mount etc... I'm sure I missed a few things as I'm a little tired right now...

Complete guns: The best deal seems to be coming from Allied armament so long as you don't mind the wait... Ohio Rapid Fire also makes a complete gun but cannot vouch for quality....

But chime on in guys I know I missed something... Drive up those post counts... :bounce:

i finally took out my mcguire build to the LC shoot and it ran flawlessly :50cal: - at $1200 for a .308 build it is on par with ORF and a little higher than allied armament - but AA has had some organizational issues and long waits have really pissed off some of their customers. However, John Mcguire is honest about ship/build times and communication is second to none. To really put him over the top is the lifetime warranty (as longs as hes alive), and the 3 day inspection period before any payment is sent - if u dont like it just send it back (you pay for return shipping).

He also was offering 8mm builds too for an extra few bucks. If i buy another full built gun before any ban comes around - it will be from him.

Just my opinion.

yeah i was up top for most of the day, kinda set off from the group - since the lower area was full. It was me and i believe caliboundar15 up there. The last hour or two of the day i moved down when a spot opened up and met a few cats - lucky13, 19194ME, GeorgeW and a few others - not to forget iRIGHTi who i had met at the SAR show awhile back.

All in all it was a great day for me, my guns ran good and nothin broke - and got to spend the day with a bunch of other gun enthusiasts :hail: It was my first belt fed shoot, but will not be my last - good people + big guns = great times.

Now i gotta find some .308s so i can get back down there with u guys. Never have i said "i wish i lived closer to LA" til last sunday LOL

and i didnt see this sooner..........

heres how it goes:

Allied builds a nice gun: your gonna have a headache with delivery and their office, but the gun is perfect.

ORF: my gun was perfect and ran great right out of the box.... but some times you get a good one, some times you get shit, but speed and service are untouchable (for me)

John Mcguire: is doing my current build (M3B)and he is a true gentleman and communication is excellent and so is the warranty and now his price is even the same as Allied. cant go wrong here....

if you got lots of money i hear Blackbear is also great.

I built both of my 1919's and my M3HB..to address the issues, what you get in a parts kit is a demilitarized(disassembled) gun with the key part missing..the reciever. On all Browning machine guns, the right side plate holds the legal status of reciever, so in pure legal terms you have nothing more than a box of machine parts (although there is a prosecutor and judge in Missouri who see it differently and have thrown some guy in prison for 40 years for just having parts kits)..CHECK YOUR LOCAL LAWS FIRST. You get all the original parts, including the trigger / sear, which has unfortunately gotten some real genius Militia-types in deep with the Feds for just going on and building full auto guns..it's attention we really didn't need. But there's one in every crowd I guess..
Building one isn't a huge task, but it does require mechanical skill and some experience with the basic tools of machine work. You have to rivet the reciever box all together in perfect alignment the old fashioned way, and getting it together perfectly square is the biggest challenge other than finishing. To build a legal semiauto, you will need some milling on your internal moving parts to clear the large island raised on semiauto right sideplates. This island prevents you from switching out to full auto parts, as they won't fit. There are a couple of guys doing the millwork if you're not set up for that. Finishing starts from Day One with the method of choice being to beadblast every part of the reciever box, backplate, top cover to a condition of spotless, then choose your finish...set up your own parkerizing tank, send it out, or do GunKote and bake it (I did that with all my Brownings and its holding up really well)...
If you buy an OOW parts kit, by the time you're done with it all you might bring it in for under $700, but it is a bit of work, and attention to detail is everything.

Yup! Pick a vendor and buy one.. Then ramp up on a kit & spare parts, and get ready to build one - as the "addiction" will have taken hold by then. (gotta have MORE than one!)

Welcome to the sickness.
