Heres a pisser for you, started building my next two guns and the first one somehow popped off the arbor I was using to rivet the trunion in and sumbitch if I didnt fuck up my left side plate fer shits sake.
Now I have to strip all the cams and other things off of the friggin plate and try to press it flat again!
Man it pissed me off so much I just gave up for the day and didnt even touch the other gun.

Those look like there going to be wall hangers... I dont' see how you'll be able to get them straight so the internals won't bind....

Yeah, the more I think about it the more I think I just need to buy another LSP, the RSP should be fine, it is under a bind right now because of the LSP but I am pretty sure it will pop back out when I grind the LSP off.
Has anybody dealt with Angola Armory? They show LSP's in stock for fiddy bucks which isnt too bad.

Holy shit:shock:. how did you do that? if you did that with that ball pien hammer sitting there, you got to back off on the horse power a bit. dont pitch that side plate, My machine shop guy may be able to fix it. He will be here on thursady night to pick up some parts. i can show him the picture and see what he says.

Nope, didn't do it with a hammer but a 20 ton H press:shock:
Good news is I just got it all back apart and the RSP is nice and flat so it didn't permanently distort.
I am pretty sure I could take the bend out with my press and the two larger arbor plates but to to it I would have to remove both the cams on the inside, the rear sight mount and the funky thingy on the forward outside.
I really think its worth fiddy bucks just to bypass that shit right now, will probably strip it and straighten it later, belive me I am a huge packrat and I rarely throw anything out so it will sit and wait for a later day to get fixed.
Man let me tell you it sucks donkey ass trying to get those frigging trunnion rivets back out:cussing:

Dan, i feel your pain. I do my fair share of stupid stuff. last week I shipped a AA tripod and M3 tripod to the wrong guys, each got the other ones stuff. one was in Fl. the other out west, cost me double to have them picked up and re sent. boy what a dumb ass I was.

That funky thing is the belt pawl holding bracket... FYI:green:
That area where you go into say like Beltfed forums and you see the threads below those forum are for generally topics stickies etc. you know when you don't know where to put something or theres no catagory for it... It allows the administrators to play housekeeping and either create a new catagory or move the thread in the catagory it should be in... Thats what I figure...

Dan don't give up all hope, do you have a hydrolic press?
heat the bent area of the plate with a torch to stress relieve it,
then set the plate in the press high put pressure on the high side till it looks good,
and let it cool, repeat as necessary it may work for you,
I just did something similar with a precision shaft that was out of round by 15 thousands
chucked it up on the lathe, used a dial indicator to find the high side & marked it,
I then heated it and lightly tapped on the high side, checking with the dial indicator now and then
once I had it close I jammed the live center in it heated it up good and let it spin,
I was able to bring it back to within 3 thousands of true,
good enough to get the die press back up and running.

I am going to give it a go when I get all the bits stripped off the LSP (but have ordered a new one anyways).
What I am going to try is pressing it out between my larger arbor plates in my H press and hook my arc welder up to the LSP to provide the heat and then let it cool between the arbors under pressure.
Guess I will start around 90 amps and see. (also works great at thawing out frozen water mains if their old enough to still be metal instead of plastic.)

Dan,
I would heat it up and then place it in the press, so the press doesn't act as a heat sink.

Great Idea - Thanks
Will post the results in a couple of days when I get back to working on it.

So Dan,
How'd you make out? were you able to straighten it?

I haven't stripped all the bits of of it yet but will try a little later in the week, I was too busy completely screwing up another part to this gun. Guess I need to order a trunnion from SARCO next week:cussing::cussing::banghead::banghead: the old trunnion gets to go into the boned gun parts box to be repaired at a later date if desired.
Man the other two guns no problem, this one must have been made from salvaged steel from the Hindenburg for pete's sake.
