I had a real good friend pass away a few years back, and i have a small box of his stuff that i never really went thru. Well i decided to check some stuff out and came across this shell casing and thought it was interesting, so im sharing. im guessing his dad who was a WWII vet brought it back, but i dont know for sure, i wanna ask his dad but he is pretty old now and not so coherent these days :( . Anyways, the scribing is as follows

USS INCHAM
H.M.S DELHI

ANZIO
NAPLES
SALERNO

SICILY
1943

Headstamp: 2PRNoIMK II
LOT 51 RLB
N
Y1942

I have no idea what size it is or anything like that so i put my phone next to it for scale, just thought it was cool enough to post. Looks like the top has been flared out and its been used for an ashtray for some years. guess its gonna be a desk decoration now, one of the only things i have to remember my friend.

Whats interesting is the casing is for a British 2Pndr. not a 40MM bofors case always nice to see mementos brought home preserved by people who care about them.

I'd go to google image search and look up those ships sounds like he may have been on a support ship during Pattons and Montgomerys marches through italy...
