i getting a 1928 colt browing water cooled kit how much difference is thier from one to the other would like to build 1917 semi

Well from what I understand they are basically the same gun however the 1928 had a captured recoil spring unlike the 1919a4... I believe however that the kits folks are getting from OOW's have had the modifications made to them to make them like the later 17a1's and 19a4's... The 28 colt is more like the early 1917 watercooled gun as it was completely slab sided and the RSP had a dove tail in it for the bottome plate verses the bottomplate that we see most of the time on the 17a1's and 19a4's that wraps around the outside of both the LSP and the RSP... Often times the 28 colts have a reinforcement strap that wraps around the bottom plate to both the right and left sides because they found this was a weakness in the design... There are some great picks of the 28 colts on liberatorcrew.com website I will have to find the link for you but I believe that nosegunner that runs that site returned his to its original configuration...

Thanks for the info and reply well i figue i can use barrel jacket and trunion just need good pic of what left side plate looked like on the outside it looks just plain. Unlike the 1919a4 with rear sight bracket :50cal:

my suggestion is contact nosegunner off of the 1919a4 board as he has restored a 28 colt he might have a contact for an 80% RSP for you...
