There are a few guys building these on Gunco. they are using mg42 / mg3 feed covers & trays. they are to big for the 7.62 x 39 round So I got an rpd feed setup for this one to keep it small & compact.
basically the receiver is just some steel tubing with parts made from sheet metal and tubing.

I worked on this a little more today. I fitted the grip and redid the rear for the top cover latch. it feeds ok so the next step will be modifying the bolt carrier to operate the feed lever, then cut the ejection port and slot for the cocking handle.
I have started drawings to get some parts fabricated once I have all the proper dimentions worked out so it will look like a profesional build not a bodge job!

Okay I finally got to read this a couple of times now... So I take it I'm lookin' for a RPD topcover and feed tray assembly...
Now obviously this will feed the RPD belts then... unlike the project on gunco that likes the MG3 belts...
Any idea on the buffer and stock end of the gun... A SAW style fal stock would look nice... but then you'd have to run a rat tail like on the fal bolt...

I just got a G3 stock, you can also use the ak stock.
I have made a new receiver and will post some photos and dimentions.

Okay here's a question... Okay I know your working on the RPD semi setup too Pirate... From a pratical stand point if you don't have an extra RPD top cover would it just be easier for a slub like me just to pick up an RPD kit and just build a Semi Auto RPD...
A little off topic but with the RPD semi conversion your working on would be working with the receiver chunks or and 80% receiver
