...or any .50 for that matter.
If you listen to Von, and I DO. ( he has an uncanny ability to see the future of our industry) then you already know the window of opportunity for the Big 50's and ammo for them appears to be drying up rather quickly.
The government seems intent on pacifying US.
Before all is lost, will you shift your aquisition priorities to that which is disappearing the fastest?
The 1919's, MG 42's, and the BMG's in the right hands could present a headache to any occupying force.
One other side note...returning GI's tell me that RPG's, grenades, and AK-47s sell easily and cheaply in the markets of Iraq, but browning pistols command a premium, as they are more readily concealable. should we be taking hints coming from the "current occupation zone"?
i'm sticking to my .50 !! if some sheet-head stumbles into my hole, i'll finish him with my pistol. thats how i feel about it !! tomt

Slick,
Tell Nancy to be displeased no longer.... I have a couple of M2Hb's (love the sound of that) on order from Allied Armament.
This went from a $99 hobby :gaga: (oh, I'll just get a C&R and a swedish mauser) to ' My Lord, the price of a pair of deuces'. :50cal: :50cal:

Well guys the only thing I can say is they can't outlaw our minds and hands there will always be people like us out there... I think they would have to lock down every piece of metal, mills, drills and lathes to keep us from a hobby that we express so much love and admiration of... Nacy can kiss my :moon:

There is no doubt that this Government fears these guns greatly. Though the biggest push in regulation and banning has been, as was pointed out, in the area of more concealable weapons. In the past 20 years especially, handguns and military type assault weapons have suffered the brunt of regulation and elimination. They know what is thier biggest threat, especially in the urban jungles of America's big cities...shorty AK's, MAC's, KG-9, hi cap pistols, AP pistol ammo, handguns in general. Sooner or later though, they have to take into consideration that there actually are private citizens out here with the balls and the hardware to face down any civilian police force on the open field. Waco gave them miles of test data to contemplate. In fact, the FBI and Congress put in thier official reports that the presence of .50 cal weapons in the Davidian compound was a primary reason for the raid. That claim has been effectively debunked, but I find it very interesting that even then, thier fear of the .50 motivated them to hang Waco on that weapon. The truth is that a tactical analysis of the engagement shows that, had the Davidians actually owned an operational .50 cal weapon with a competent gunner and good ammo supply, nobody would have ever come close to that building. It would have taken a tactical airstrike to uproot them.
These guys do studies. They pay huge think tanks. Tacticians have already run mock scenarios on this for years. They study history. If you look at numerous Medal of Honor winning battles in WW2, you will find a lot of Browning in the official action reports. It does not escape them that one crew, sometimes one man, with a dug in Browning, turned the tide of battle more times than not. Audy Murphy, one .50 cal...the famous Recon & Intel battalion at the crossroads, Battle of the Bulge, 17 men and a Browning...500 Germans dead. They know this. You place your positions well and have ample food for you and gun, and it will take an AC130 gunship to get you off the hill. Hence why Bush put just that provision into the Military Commissions Act. Yes, the President has authority to call unlimited military force in on domestic uprisings.
We are a threat. Just not the immediate threat. The urban centers are a far larger problem at first. Smaller weapons more easily concealed top the list for elimination. But they know that sooner or later, they will run afoul of someone rural, in thier way, or challenging thier authority, and be faced with having to stand back 4700 yds. Just google .50 cal and start scrolling. You'll begin to see congressional studies and presentations going back a decade, laying out in detail why the .50 is a huge threat and must be banned.
Get while you can. There are a few M2HB kits still out there, Christos still has M3 and M3HB parts sets, and I would seriously double up on things. Think long term. Hell, I may have one of each in kit form ready to assemble buried in cosmoline and plastic ready to emerge if needed a decade from now.
My priority for the moment is brass, bullets, powder, primers, which seems to be the area of attack at present, plus spare parts. Bolts, barrels, firing pins, springs. That's what I'm addressing first.
