So like whats going on out there guys... Drama is getting to thick over on the other one...
Looks like its time to reload or change over to 30-06 the .308 is gone and the people that actually do have some are mentally gone especially for the prices they are trying to charge...
Guess we will have to start a thread on realoading for the 1919a4....

Kali,
I think your right , the air does get a little thick over there at times.
Something that suprized me a little lately. I didn't realize that there were so many folks that didn't already reload. Probibly just me. I think I started loading shells about a week after I got my first shotgun. One of those Lee loaders...Other than a Garand match, I've never shot anything but my own loads in matches.....Lou
So there's some fresh air over here looks like. My first loader was a Lee and it was for .357 Mag...I think I did about 3 rounds per hour :D

Yeah sometimes peoples actions are self defeating Lou... It gets a little tiring seeing them take jabs at each other but boys will be boys...
My first loader was a Lee I still have it twenty years into this reloading experience and my first dies were for my fathers colt commander 45acp and they are still going strong many thousands of rounds later... Now I have a dillon 550 which works at my speed (slow) that a friend bought for me as a gift for assisting him with his collection... I love my Lee presses and dies and would never get rid of them...
Oh yeah I got a couple of those Lee Loadalls to for playing with my shotshells too :D
Good to have you some fresh blood posting over here Lobo... We get tired of talking to ourselves  RH will like that one...
A few of the 1919ers post over here when we get a little overwhelmed by the squables on the other one... It's really not formated for the 1919 so we don't draw from A4 in that aspect anymore but is a place where we can sit down and just jack jaw a little... My home away from Home Thanks RH

Any of you guys ever use the lee loader that you had to beat the case in the dies with a hammer. I still got 4 or 5 of them. Kinda scary. They would be good if you had to GO RIGHT NOW.

Hey Lobo, Good to see you here !!!
My 2nd loader was also a Lee, for 38 spec. Soon after I got married I had picked up some fired brass. Was working 2nd shift at a shop. My wife volunteered to deprime the cases for me while I was working. When I got home I got a BIG EAR FULL from her. Seems there was a live primer in one of the cases. ....Lou

Yeah... I've seen those papple... I remember a while back when my dad took me to go get my first reloading gear and he steered me away from those... I think it kinda scared him thinking I would be pounding on a cartridge...
Stock ammo and I do not get along... of course if its just something to hose through the belt fed as long as it cycles the action I don't care...
I bought a full auto kit from a place in Ohio ,it came with the right side plate sawed off.
Now i see that a lot of machine work needs to be done also.
Is there anyone i could send all of this to who could build the entire gun?
Just in case i get in over my head ,i think i have already.

What you have purchased is a 1919a4 parts set... We do not use the term full auto with it as it is illegal to build a FA firearm with out the correct license as you probibly know already...
Your best bet is to head on over to 1919a4.com and check out Lobo's tutorial maybe if he swings in he'll drop the link for you here... There are dealers that can assemble your parts set into a Semi Auto 1919a4 for a price of course... Your best bet is check out Lobos tutorial first and then go from there... BTW its not that difficult to assembly your kit you might just want to take a whack at it... If you have any questions feel free to post here or there the forum members would be happy to help you with specifics...
I looked at that site the first of this week ,it seemed a lot of bad things were going on there.
It was the site the people in Ohio told me to go to for help.
The man at our gun store told me to try this one ,it seems to be a lot more user friendly.
This is the first time i have ever used a chat room ,so please bear with me.

True there was so silly stuff going on over there let us know exactly what you like to get answers to and we will try to help out...
i looked up this lobo today ,he has a lot of good info.
I thought ,OK ,mabie its OK now,but a couple of men were attacking another member.
I only want to fix this gun, i do not want any trouble.
Are these sites like that? is it a place to fight?
Anyway ,my parts are all automatic ,i found a man who has the ,right side plate for $ 80.00.
after surfing the web i saw this isnt a bad price.
should i buy it?
what do i do about the rest of the parts?
Any of you guys ever use the lee loader that you had to beat the case in the dies with a hammer. I still got 4 or 5 of them. Kinda scary. They would be good if you had to GO RIGHT NOW.
Yeah, that's the type I was referring to...my intro to reloading. Can't beat the price and you don't need a bench to mount it to :).
we bought this kit from the advise of a gun shop ,and a friend who has one he bought complete.
we live in window rock Az.
we have figured out the sawed off side needs to be removed ,do we need to remove the other side also?
I have been told the parts will not fit untill we get them machined.
We have a machine shop ,but they have no specs on what to do.
we are looking at the other site too get ideas.

Hawkeye,
Go back to the other 1919pg and go to the Build section. See if you can rattle Lobo's chain. He's Great Guy and can stear you to the How To Stuff, or The Go Too Guys, for stuff you need done..
BTW, till you get a little more accoustomed to the guys maybe just look at the Open Talk section with just one eye open  ...Lou
We just want our gun together ,i see now we should have bought one from this AA.
And this may be what we end up doing.
But for now i think i should stay here.
New people on your other site seem to get ignored ,or presumed ignorant. Will.
It seems that AA has a problem delivering guns.
and this ORF isnt worth giveing away.
can any of you tell me who i should buy my gun from?
We want a 30cal 1919.

Well in all honesty its best to build one I know I'll run that into the ground...
Okay there's Allied Armament like you said
then thers Ohio Rapid Fire
and then U.S. Ordnance
Ohio Ordnance works builds 1928 Colts which are simular but there to you would have to wait...
Before you buy a Right Side Plate find out who it is made by ... Daves100's are good, then theres Brass Cartridges and then T&S's Side Plates as well as Ohio Rapid Fires... I'm sure I'm missing info here...
Be patient Hawkeye really give that tutorial a good look this weekend as you read it more it will make sense... and No the Left side plate does not need to be removed if you have a piece of the RSP still riveted on to the bottom plate yes you would remove that... Also right around where you found Lobo's tutorial there is another tutorial about whats in your parts set read that a couple of times so you can become familiar with your parts it will make it easier to communicate with you...
Also what happend on the board the past few days is a complete fluke the members on 1919a4 pride themselves on welcoming people into the fold and for the most part are very good people... However we are not perfect...

Try looking up John McGuire, on the membership list, on the other sight, I'm not sure if he's on this one or not.. He gets TOP Shelf reviews
I'm not doing this to just keep sending you there, I'm just a little more formiluar with who does what there...Lou
I will watch it more carefully, but all we saw was four or five men after one.
Here we call that a wolf pack, that is why we have trust problems.
i was asked to write on these forums , but it would seem to me that we all have more to be concerned about than fighting amoung ourselves.
we have tried to call this U,S, ordnance ,they are not makeing guns at this time.
We have other arms, but we need help, you are our only choise.
All of that resolved as a new person ,can we get back to how we need to assemble our 1919.
would it be cheaper to build this one up ,or just buy one from the web sites?
Has a man selling one for $1,000.00 dollers ,it is an AA ,is that a good price?
some of the people writeing in were asking if it had certain things repaired on it.
Do things need to be repaired on an AA?

Hawkeye11,
Blackbear is another 1919 builder. He also builds top Notch 1919 builds. His prices might be slightly higher than most but you get what you pay for.Think of his 1919's as a blueprinted engine.Everything is built with quality in mind.
You cant go wrong with either builder there.
Now onto the AA 1919's.These are the most affordable 1919 out there and most of them run pretty good.Sometimes you will here that they have problems but with anything things break and he does offer to repair them or will send you the replacements parts for free.
Its pretty much up to you how much you want to spend on these.
And yes I'm the owner of this site and Thanks for finding us! :D
BlackBear contact number: (best way to get ahold of him)

I have looked there ,but then i need to come here to clear things up.
The ones who have looked at the other site feel it is to forceful?
Did i say that right?
It seems like it consist of a lot of clans or tribes.
They seem to fight a lot,on every subject.
This site has areas for that ,then it has an area for what i need to know.
And many have wrote to me telling me what i do need to know.
We look at men for what they are ,all the good men from the other place seem to come here ,the others stay there and fight with one and other.
I think, the owner of this site welcomed me here,i do not see the owner of the other place welcome its new comers.
so how am i to feel at home there?

Hmmm, seems you haven't run into Von yet :D
Theres a guy, Slick, who is going over both the ORF, and AA , guns at the moment. He's a member of both sights. So far his review on the guns has been real HONEST feed back...
Please just remember, when your looking for the lowest priced gun you can get, Your GETTING the lowest price gun you can get...
John McGuire, makes a Good reasonably priced gun.
Black Bear makes a Very Nice Gun. It costs a bit more, and he sometimes has a Long waiting list. ... Both Guys are WELL KNOWN...Lou
At a gun store ,it is an ,Ohio Ordnance?
I didnt think they built the guns ,they are the ones i bought this kit from.
Unless it is a kit someone has already built.
It is supposed to have the tripod and 1,000 links with it.
He wants $1,600.00 for it ,and i am going to take some things to try and trade.
Then i will be asking you all , how do i shoot this thing ?
I am sure we can figure it out.

Hey Hawkeye not to long ago when the peak of building was going on we did not have the issues over there that we have now... I'm pretty sure they have all those issues resolved now I know the members of that site do not want it to turn into a three ring circus...
Yeah where is Von??? did he go on vacation...
Whatever you decide to do someone here or from over there will try to help you...
I bought the gun ,it was a kit put together locally.
It is a nice gun.
I am staying at my sisters tonight because the drive is so long.
It came with a M2 tripod? with a T&E.?
I want to get one of those tripod adapters shown on this site.
someone had put spade grips on it from AA. they seem to be nice and work well.
I hope it works well ,it cost me my colt 1911 and some cash.
Some people said we need to replace the rivits with brass studs .
i am just jokeing ,you know how we are.
We are reading about head spaceing from lobo on the other site.
I hope we get it right.

Trading one Browning for another huh... Sounds good... and a tripod to boot... :D
We went out early and shot the 1919, they tell me it is an A4.
we only had 100 links for it ,but every thing went OK.
The sights on these are hard to use ,to small for the type of gun it is.
I need a linker ,doing that by hand is hard on your thumb.
Kali ,i will save up my money and this time buy a Kimber ,i dont like not haveing a 1911.
But ranching dosent pay all that well.

Hey its nice to hear that your 1919 ran good!
Now all you need is another one! :D
Oh and if I had to put my life on the line I would chose a Kimber over a 1911 any day.
I am impressed the owner of this site talks to me.
Yes i want a Kimber ,it seems to be a better gun.
Sad .and long gone are the days that colt ruled.
But a 1911 is just that,a 1911.
We want the tripod adapter 1003 ,can i call you about it?
Or we will order it from your pay pal.

Hawkeye,
The best place for links is http://www.ohioordnanceworks.com/parts/linkers-belts.html They sell them for $70 for a 1000 links.
For a linker you can try laminatrap. He makes a good repro linker. He offers them in 10 & 20 round linkers.
Heres the link:

Kimbers are good internal extractors only... I've heard nothing but problems with every 1911 that has a external extractor... If the external extractor does have enough tension it won't extract to much and it stove pipes... My friend had one of the new S&W 1911's and they still couldn't get it right... He sold it got a 1911 that works and the factory told him to only shoot factory loads... Yeah thats going to happen when we shoot 500 rounds a setting 2-3 times a week...
On the other hand I have a $300 dollar Rock Island I got from Sarco Inc. that shoots as well as everyone elses high dollar guns... It really burns there asses... Of course it could be the operator too... :D

this .308 shortage is BS...just like the AK ammo shortage was...its' the END of the YEAR guys, all corporations are DEPLETING inventory and NOT RESTOCKING for TAX reasons. Watch..as soon as January hits, around the 15th-20th, it'll be raining South African ammo from the sky. Anybody having trouble buying 7.62x39 now?
Oh yeah, they get a nice price bump out of the panic, but there's no cut-off of South African ammo. How ridiculous. Unless somehow the UN managed to get SA to cut off the US exclusively from surplus ammo buys, I think they like our dollars. I'll wait and see what happens in January.
And if it has all gone to shit, well, I got a nice new press and polygunbag has lots of virgin 7.62 brass and thousands of new FN M61 .308 AP rounds..I'll load up some shit to make that SA stuff look lame.

And working on modifying an M3 backplate to my Gryphos gun. I just talked to him and his price on a ready to build kit is really sweet right now, so it's speaking to me....mmmmmm....twin .50's...twin mount in truck bed of M35...mmmmmm

Well... we get tired of talking to ourselves over here... New Press Von??? are you talking about something newer than you Lee Classic Cast for your 50bmg's...
Hey guys I ran about 150 rounds of reloads through the belt fed the other day... I was very pleased... I ran commercial cases as well as mil surp... The gun ran like grease though a goose... I also bought some Wolf ammo and I was way disappointed...
There are all sorts of rumors going around...
Hey we need a thread for this...
Okay Rumor #1 UN has stopped South Africa from selling surplus to the U.S.....
Rumor #2 Recent shipment of 7.62x39 was not allowed to un-load in San Pedro harbor Los Angeles Calif....
Anybody have any others???
VonRundstedt
12-09-2006, 08:34 AM
Yes, my Lee set up which has paid for itself and all it's tooling and supplies already due to the .50 cal ammo-buying panic..I'm adding a second Classic Cast frame to set up for sizing and priming alone and dedicate my first press to seating / crimping so I'm not constantly removing the dies and starting all over for each batch. But yes, I am now officially addicted.
Now for rumors: I have not found any supporting documentation or proclamations by the UN or SA RECENTLY which would indicate an ammo embargo. But there's the problem: They HAVE been seriously discussing a surplus cut-off since 1999 from South Africa, and the UN has recently completed it's highly hoop-la'd World Conference on Small Arms. So could the South African Gov. have just got up one day and cut it off? ALL ammo shipments? Possible. Could the ATF, now emboldened by an incoming Democrat Congress which will certainly ramp them up and issue new priorities and directives, be off the leash and holding up incoming shipments on any flimsy excuse available? Could well be so.
I'm still searching for documents..
If any of it IS true, they are keeping a lid on it well. Unfortunately, LaPierre is as unreliable on the Right as Sarah Brady is on the Left...both viewpoints expressing radical over the top opinions as "fact" to create panic in their respective support base. And of course, bring in floods of support dollars from "concerned" citizens As with any polarizing political football, I suspect that truth lies somewhere in the middle of the two viewpoints. Personally, I am going to wait until after January before I panic. but if it DOES turn out to be fact...that all quality 7.62x51 surplus has been cut off from shipping to the US..then a new set of dies and lots of 7.62 brass and bullets are going in my Santa List.
