Yeah, well, it got personal between a bullshit artist / thief and me, and it got way over the top as usual. I'm surprised that thread went on as long as it did.

Well, guys , its one of those things where," You should have been there" :D Way too much typeing to explain, Plus Von knows how to do it best. It does show its kind of good to play square with folks. If you run into a snag, or a different game plan you need to let people know whats going on.
From the sounds of what I saw there was more to it than what I'm aware of....Lou

Alright don't get all excited..I haven't gone Bakersfield Chimp on anybody in so damn long that it actually got everybodys' attention..Even the A4 board is back talking about me..
Theres' this guy, OldTiredIron is his forum name, and back at the beginning of the year we met online and dabbled back and forth in some .50 cal stuff, mostly he wanted to buy stuff from me. He was a lot of talk and a slow pay but he always squeaked by. Well, one day he gets off on this rant about how all the gun builders were ganging up on him and telling a bunch of lies about him because they didn't like his competing with them...(uh..sure..) and how he was going to unload all these demilled 50 cal guns he had to a builder on the West Coast. Well, I got bucks layin around and at the time was going to get in a real M2 build, so I called him on it and was like "what parts you got"? Well, then suddenly all he has is a couple bolts..
This moves along until I start to beat my M3 bolt up badly, and we start a thread on possible conversion of M2 bolts to use in M3 actions with heavy barrel. In the discussion, OldTired Iron chirps up, like he's known it all along and he has M2 bolts we can modify. So I start talkin to him. He says he needs machinist specs. Well, mine is on a BC plate and it couldn't be easier, so i let him in on the specs. Then he's like "I gotta try it in a friends gun first"..weeks go by..then its "Oh..his gun was screwed up. We couldn't test it". So I tell the guy to get it out to me, I'll do the R&D on the mod, make it work, and pay him for the bolt. Then give him my data so he can do this for others with M3HB guns. He agrees. Its' a deal.
That was MAY. The excuses are a textbook on how to bullshit.
My main problem is that I met up with the guy at WG Tactical because I love what he did with his M114 promo vehicles, and he was concerned because he had 2 Gryphos M3HB guns for his tracks. Well, guess who I referred him to. Yup. Bigger trouble, WG Tac PAID HIM UP FRONT for 2 bolts. I had a deal for one to work out the bugs and get that data to him, and pay for the bolt. He finally gets in contact with me months late and dozens of lies later and tells me I have to pay him up front now. That's when I bailed. He STILL has not produced a single M2 bolt for anybody. he STILL has not refunded the money to WG Tactical.
In the time this has been chasing its' tail, I have located out of the blue two M3 bolts, bought them, and had them modified and machined myself, so I have mucho spares.
The guy has dodged us, he has lied to us, blamed it on his machinist, on his FedEx driver, on the weather, you name it. He has had the balls 3 times to say they are done and on the way. he refuses to call it off and refund the money. THIS is why I got all in his ass. These aren't legitimate problems guys, we've all done that..got into a project that took way too long, or got busy and delayed, that's normal shit. Disappearing out of state is not normal, getting your wife to answer your Emails is not normal, lying to everyone for months is not normal, making up stories and being fool enough to tell the SAME LIE over a 6 month period to 3 different people is not normal. After the flame thread started, the personal messages and Emails began from some of OldTired's past business partners/customers, and the stories about his OTHER deals began.
So this ain't some guy who made an honest error in timing. This guy is defrauding by deception in interstate commerce, and some other mil-surp items have come into question from the past with his name attached. He has some not so forgiving people interested in talking to him now.
So that's the story guys. Film at 11

Uh... So what your trying to say is don't send OTI money....
I noticed his thread over on 1919a4 has not been getting much play anymore... He wanted to make an accurate reproduction of the 1917a1 trunion in bronze... and put together a complete kit to build the 17a1 config... Although I don't think he was asking for money I believe he wanted people to send him various parts so he could get measurements for accurate reproductions...
Oh well... At least I got to see the thread you started over on M2HB before they nuked it Von...
Hey Lou I gotta get on your waterjacket list soon will Email you again so I can start sending you money...
Oh yeah I had an idea to fix the deadness over here and have a little fun; will have to run it by you first 1919_4_ME

ok. well, let's use a little common sense here....
Here we have an individual who, in spite of having the better part of a year do get it done, could not get a flat .070 mill cut down the right side of an M2 bolt (about as square a chunk of steel as you'll ever see), mill out a sear slot (uh..send it to Tomt, duh..) and send it out.
What is the top end of a real 1917 tripod worth these days? And have you looked at the millwork in THAT thing? ok, Ed can't get 2 small mill set-ups done, but he's gonna reproduce these complex parts? A 1917 WC repro kit?
Listen, no good con man ever asks you for money. They present you with an irresistable opportunity wherein you OFFER money, which changes the entire legal structure when shit hits the fan.
To be completely honest, I'm hoping beyond hope that poor Ed turns out to be a simple head case with delusional ideas and way too much mental ambition for his non-existant physical capabilities. In English, I hope he's just a nut, and WG Tactical gets their money back, and nothing REALLY bad happens here. I don't want that kind of attention, if you get my drift.
I don't think any of us wants to believe that someone would come into this small community of collectors and deliberately rip us off, especially someone who is on a couple of different boards and has been part of a few conversations over the past couple of years. He just doesn't fit the profile, y'know? I'm really hoping that all he did was make promises he knew he couldn't keep, or at worst, knew he had to go scrounge up parts he didn't really have in order to fulfill. I really think he just "pre-sold" and it bit him when he found out that there are no more M2 bolts just lying around and it's gonna cost $500 to get one stripped bare to use. I think he just screwed himself and now has too much ego to just say "Wow, did I fuck THAT up...SORRY". You realize just that admission would have made this all go away, right? It's the refusal to just give it up and admit a mistake...and yes, refund some money... which is establishing the possibility of criminal intent and getting the attention of all the wrong people

Hi Guys,
I sort of thought Ed was just doing a lot of wishful thinking on what was involved with the water jacket. Figured once they got REALLY involved in what it takes he might rethink his game plan.. This other stuff gives every one a little extra food for thought !!!!
BTW...Kali.....Your parts are the ONLY thing I need up front. The jackets are a lot of work, and I"m SLOW  I don't start talking about money till they're ready to ship to you.. Been around long enough to know climbing out of a hole you dug for yourself really sucks...Lou
