Well I thought I would mosy on over to the Cabela's located here in Glendale,AZ.This is the first Cabela's I have even been able to visit and I must say I was impressed. The people that work here are very nice and the atmosphere is really laid back.Theres no sales people coming over to you and bugging you and everything is laid out pretty well.Over all this place is a really neat place to visit and if your ever in the area please stop by to check it out.
Anyways heres the first impression as you drive up to Cabela's
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/1599/imga0716ub7.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
As you walk through the doors your greeted by a huge mountain rockscape, waterfalls and a very casual quiet atmosphere.
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/3544/imga0718zd4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Now paning to the left we can start to see the hunting area.
http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/4489/imga0719ft2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
A little further over and we start to get closer to the "Gun Section"
http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/3046/imga0720rc1.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Starting over the far left side we walk right into the Black Powder rifle section.Whats cool to see is how the rifles are casually on the "Other" side of the fence so the customer can just walk right up and pick the rifle up without having to ask. This is a very cool site to see. Also you will never see stuff like this in Cali.... :bs:
http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/7357/imga0721wl8.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/7840/imga0725fu2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
More BP rifles to sift through..
http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/9979/imga0724nb1.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Then we start to get over to the long ass gun counter. They have just about every rifle you can think of short of a .50bmg rifle.
http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/2997/imga0722hh3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Walking down the gun counter I hit a sweet spot. Here it is!:headbang:
http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/8494/imga0726bp5.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
They had I think it was 4 glass cases full of scopes.

Looks like the type of place for me to steer clear of!! WOW
There is a place called Kittery Trading Post just over the NH border into Maine that is nice,, not near as big, but it is pretty well equiped to clean me out of cash.

yeah too bad most of the people who work there (ESPECIALLY the gun counter) are complete assholes. I get ignored when i go in there, dont know if its because i dont fit the good ol' boy profile or what. Some guys there are pretty cool once you can get their attention, but like i said they are in the minority bigtime.
There used guns are priced insanely, i dont even bother looking at those anymore. No thanks ill go ahead and pass on a $450 yugo SKS
The new guns counter is now a "take a number and wait forever" system, and believe me it takes FOREVER to get service, and when you do they act like you are wasting there time if you wanna look at something before plopping down the cash. Most people, like myself, leave long before the number ever comes up.
Looks wise, yeah the store looks great and has a lot of stuff in it, but the service leaves alot to be desired.
call me jaded, but i live less than 10 minutes from the place and dont go there anymore now that i know how they operate, it would have to be a smokin ass deal to get me back in there. Now i just use there parking lot for meet ups when buying / selling guns lol.
